| Mesa
Mesa was founded by Mormon missionaries over 120
years ago and has now grown to a population of 422,000!
Its growth is attributed in part to its affordability,
with the median home price at about $115,000 with
no city property tax.

The other reason for Mesa’s popularity is its
wealth of amenities, from recreational and educational
to cultural, within its 122 square mile city limits.
There are over twenty golf courses and forty seven
city parks, a symphony orchestra, cultural and historical
museums and theatrical troupes for children and adults,
not to mention extensive shopping opportunities. Four
popular lakes for fishing and boating are just an
hour's drive away.
Boeing Company's Helicopter Company shifted production
jobs from California to Mesa during the 1980s as a
streamlining measure, creating a wealth of employment
opportunities. Motorola, AT&T, TRW Occupant Restraint
Systems and General Motors are among the many other
Fortune 500 companies with a presence here, contributing
to Mesa’s low unemployment rate of only 3.8%.
Thompson Newspapers and Phoenix Newspapers, as well
as health care and government are also among the major
employers. The average Mesan has an income of $33,600
and one fourth earn more than $50,000.
Mesa has a respected school system, contributing
to the feeling that it is a good place to raise a
family. Come see if Mesa is right for you.
